The first Fundraiser of the Month for 2016 is Bruce Martinez!
Bruce has raised an awesome $1,800 in support of Street Child - 120% of his target! And his family, friends, and co-workers are STILL giving. A huge thank you from Street Child US and all the Ebola orphans given a better life thanks to you guys.
Bruce says: "I first learned about Street Child through an article about Ebola orphans. I was working on my MSC at the time, and filed it away as an organization to keep an eye on for future employment or internship opportunities. When I was studying post-conflict development, several of my professors had experience in Sierra Leone, so I learned quite a bit about the country in the course of my studies.
"Then last fall I saw a posting for an Ambassador position in Nepal and Sierra Leone, with Street Child. I applied for both and it all came together pretty quickly!
"What I really admire about Street Child is the flexibility of their operations in Sierra Leone and their commitment towards education and capacity building. Assisting the most vulnerable children is easier said than done, especially without reverting to hand-outs and other forms of one-way charity, and I think Street Child is committed to empowerment and sustainability.
"I am excited to be a part of the Street Child team and to challenge myself and learn, both about what the organization does, but also about the specific challenges of living and working in the developing world."
